Mon approche

My work is distinguished by a constant search for light and movement. What matters most to me is translating the poetry of everyday moments, playing with the richness and subtlety that dry pastel offers.

I draw inspiration from the great masters of pastel, while reinterpreting traditions to adapt them to my own artistic language. The details that punctuate my paintings often come from my daily journeys, but also from my travels abroad, which nourish my imagination and renew my perspective.

Each scene becomes an invitation to explore the interaction between light and matter. Car headlights on a wet road or moonlight on a highway become pretexts for questioning the relationship between humans and their environment.

Artistic biography

Stéphanie Bouchard is a Quebec pastel artist who fits into the contemporary figurative art movement, exploring light and movement to reveal the poetry of everyday moments. Through delicate work in dry pastel—a medium experiencing a revival in Quebec—sometimes enriched with watercolor or acrylic ink, she revisits traditions with a current perspective, between precision and spontaneity. Pursuing training in visual arts, a member of the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada and the Pastel Society of America, she has been awarded multiple times and exhibits both in Quebec and internationally. Driven by the desire to transmit her passion and introduce the richness of this demanding technique, she shares her knowledge through workshops and artistic encounters, convinced that art is a language that is both intimate and universal.
